722769 2008-11-25 04:12:00 We are setting up our new Freeview box and as per how we used to have SKY set up, we want to be able to watch Freeview on our other TV and also record from this TV.

The freeview box has a screw connection for RF In and Loopout and also a push in one for RF In & RF Out. The push in connectors don't work for watching the Freeview channels at all, so currently we have the signal coming in from the satellite into the screw in RF In connection, goes from the Freeview box to the TV via a scart cable, then back to the DVD player and finally through to the other TV via a RF Out connection. We are able to see the Freeview channels on the other TV, but not tape them. The signal won't play on the Video channel and when I push record on the video recorder just to see what happens it doesn't tape anything and goes a bit mental with tracking issues and the speed of the tape goes haywire too.

We are fairly new at this (obviously missing the lingo...) so please be gentle with us... :waughh:

It would seem that our main problem is getting a signal from the push in RF Out connection on the Freeview box. We bought the digital satellite receiver new from TM and it is a WAV-3010S model

722770 2008-11-25 04:41:00 My mistake - the signal doesn't go from the TV back to the DVD player, it goes from the Freeview box to the DVD player via a composite cable which enables the use of the RF Out connection on the DVD player which goes through to the other TV. We are then able to see the Freeview channels on the other TV, but not tape them. Pmnichol (12155)
722771 2008-11-25 05:42:00 Sounds like the VCR isn't tuned in to the freeview RF signal. Both the TV and the VCR need tuning. pine-o-cleen (2955)
722772 2008-11-25 05:48:00 Is the VCR in the loop?
The cable should be going from the RF out on the DVD player to the RF in on the VCR and then from the RF out on the VCR to the TV.

722773 2008-11-25 06:06:00 Sorry I should have mentioned the other end, ie the other TV. It is plugged in as you outlined - RF out on DVD goes to RF In on video and RF out on video goes to RF In on TV.

It does seem to be a tuning issue. The TV is tuned into Freeview, but I don't know how to tune the video in. I don't seem to have the tuning options for watching TV through the video when Freeview is plugged in. If we plug Sky back in it just automatically picks it up just fine. I read to video manual last night, but it didn't help...

722774 2008-11-25 07:23:00 I assume the dvd you talk about is a recorder? wotz (335)
722775 2008-11-25 07:43:00 Can you view a tape playing in the VCR on the TV? CYaBro (73)
722776 2008-11-25 08:59:00 Yes, the DVD is a recorder.

I can view previously taped footage on the video recorder on its video channel (AV1).

722777 2008-11-25 09:11:00 I must say I am somewhat confused. Is this the setup?
freeview to TV1 via scart
freeview to DVDR via composite
DVDR to VCR (talk about tape and tracking) via Rf
VCR to TV2 via Rf

How does freeview get into Rf to be seen on TV2?
DVDR would need to be on video input to record freeview (assuming no Rf of freeview into DVDR)
How do DVDR & VCR (if there is one) get to TV1?
