721792 2008-11-21 07:53:00 Probably of no interest to most IT guys but any woodworkers out there might like to see this demo of the new device which stops the sawbench blade instantly if it encounters a finger.

That would have been handy on my buzzer the other month.

721794 2008-11-21 08:55:00 Wow, thats awesome. Wouldn't want it to 'false alarm' though at USD $60 a pop. pine-o-cleen (2955)
721795 2008-11-21 09:40:00 Amazing! Well worth the replacement cost of the blade and 'crumple zone' fitting!! johcar (6283)
721796 2008-11-21 10:20:00 That is a brilliant piece of technology! Video is very impressive also :D Agent_24 (57)
721797 2008-11-21 11:03:00 Don't think the device would help in this case.!
Google ''David Phyall chainsaw''

721798 2008-11-21 18:25:00 Great idea but you wouldn't want to pick up any bad habits, I can just imagine the first guy to cut his finger off when he thought the electronics would work. PaulD (232)
721799 2008-11-21 19:38:00 Great device we could do with it at my work, but and I'm not being picky here where was his top guard for the blade? gary67 (56)
721800 2008-11-23 08:18:00 I notice his (wet) hand was on the saw-bench surface so the electrical resistance from blade to finger to bench was easily measurable.

I wonder what result he would have had if his hand was on top of a piece of dry wood?
