835783 2009-12-02 08:21:00 Evening,
I have several simulators installed, MS Train Sim, and Shipsim 2008 and MS FlightsimX.
They all run fine for 20 minutes, the screen goes black, and the icon appears in the task bar. Left-click it, and the the program reloads and carries on.
The websites of the programs do not know what the problem may be, can anyone in the forum be of any help?
I have XP Home, and 8800GTS video card.

835784 2009-12-02 08:30:00 Some program on your computer is causing this to happen. I had the same thing happening once and uninstalled a certain program and everything was alright after that. Think of a program you installed before this happened and uninstall it if possible.
:)

835785 2009-12-02 08:32:00 Do you have the latest driver for your graphics card?
What settings are you running under power-saving options?
Have you always had this problem, or is it recent?
If so as Trev has suggested have you installed something recently?

835786 2009-12-02 08:37:00 I've never heard of that happening. Perhaps try a system restore or remove the last program you installed before you got the problem.

Edit: I've done a search on google and have found something that may be of interest

835787 2009-12-02 09:08:00 Hi Trev and KD,
Thanks for the reply. This would appear to be a recent problem and I cannot think of a program recently installed that could be causing it. The only downloads have been addons for the Shipsim program from their own site. Advice from their "leader" was that they would not cause any problem. These addons run ok.
The only program downloaded for some time was the update to AVG from 8.5 to 9, other than the normal MS updates.
Drivers are up to date, and have never altered any power settings(don't know where to look), it is like a 'timeout', like one has with a screensaver.
Damned annoying.

835788 2009-12-02 11:05:00 Not accidently hitting the Windows key, are you?
en.wikipedia.org
Specifically:
The placement of the Windows keys can be problematic due to the possibility of hitting them inadvertently, causing the deactivation of the current window while trying to use the CTRL or ALT keys, and because the addition of two keys on the right reduces the width of the space-bar and moves the right ALT or AltGr key relative to the traditional PC keyboard layout. This accidental activation issue is especially problematic during full-screen games as it forces the game to minimize or switch to a windowed mode, thus the Windows key has become particularly reviled by gamers.
