It would help if we knew the card manufacturer.

No it wouldn't. It's an ATI card so he downloads the latest 4800 series Vista 64bit driver from ATI. Simple.

So I assume the card is made by ATI do I?

If you know which drivers are needed why not give a link to where the drivers can be found which may help the poster? Very often people are advised to download drivers from the manufacturers site which is why I asked in the first place.

835702 2009-12-02 06:15:00 The manufacturer's ATI. At least the chips are, which are the very component of the card in question. qazwsxokmijn (102)

Thank you very much for bringing that to my attention.

So as you know all this why not help the original poster?

835704 2009-12-02 06:56:00 It would appear that in fact, the driver on the OP's link is the latest
on ATI's site, whether the one he had originally is numbered differently
may be explained (perhaps) if it came from Microsoft, or the OEM?

835705 2009-12-02 06:57:00 From that page you linked to, option 2 "display driver only" is what you are after, you can if you want also install the catalyst control center but it is not needed. lagbort (5041)

835707 2009-12-02 11:15:00 Is also a good idea to uninstall the old driver first. feersumendjinn (64)
