835079 2009-11-30 09:17:00 Is anyone else experiencing slow rapidshare(premium) speeds on big time? I know it's not my own dl speed because I can download off megashares.com and iTunes at around 850kBs.

835080 2009-11-30 09:21:00 Hey there, might be the terms and conditions.

"Big Time
www.telecom.co.nz
Big Time is a traffic-managed plan unlike any other in New Zealand. On this plan there are no data caps and no overage charges, it's just a broadband plan that lets everyone in the house use the Internet as often as they like - without paying a fortune for it.

However, because of this we manage all the traffic on Big Time. When the network is busy (generally inside the hours of 9am and 2am) you may noticed reduced speeds; in particular you are likely to see reduced speeds in relation to file sharing."

So they specifically targeted RapidShare or just all file services?

835082 2009-11-30 09:44:00 All. It'll probably be the same for P2P programs Speedy Gonzales (78)
835083 2009-11-30 12:21:00 Try downloading the same file from another mirror Renmoo (66)

835085 2009-11-30 17:11:00 They throttle https connections to 40KB/sec too, to prevent that kind of thing ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
835086 2009-11-30 19:04:00 Hey narutophantom

Same for me as well. When I downloaded with Jdownloader I was between 70 - 200kbps, now it goes no higher than 40kbps. That's part of the plan unfortunately.

835087 2009-11-30 19:08:00 Odd. I can get up to 200KB/s it usually sits around 100-130 during peak hours. xyz823 (13649)
835088 2009-11-30 21:01:00 If I use Rapidshare I get about 8KB/s

That's only using free, I don't have an account. It would probably go faster if I paid for it and used multiple connections with a download manager
