| 835027 | 2009-11-30 08:45:00 | My Dlink 502T modem just crapped out on me so being the cheapskate I am I went and got a Linksys AM300 off TradeMe for $20.00 (probably $20 too much). Anyway, I've hooked it up to my PC and it seems to work fine connecting to my Xnet ADSL line..but. There are settings I havn't seen before and Xnet's help page doesn't help much. 1. What is half bridge? 2. Should it be on LLC or VC? In a moment I'm going to plug the modem in my Linksys WRT610N router. Browsing the internet I see stuff about getting the router to handle dhcp by swithching the router to PPPoe and switching the modem to halfbridge etc.... It's all a bit confusing. |

I love the AM300's, for this reason: chillingsilence.wordpress.com With the AM300, you can basically tell it to use Half-bridge and it still continues to do the authentication. When you do that, you'd just want the WRT610N to use "DHCP" for it's WAN port, and it'll then end up receiving your public-facing IP from the AM300. VC-MUX. |
