834963 2009-11-30 04:25:00 Anybody tell me what this Patch Cord is for?

www.imagef1.net.nz

It was found in a briefcase that hadn't been opened for years and carries the part number 6021167. The 7 pin end carries the letters LF :thanks

[Edit] It allows screen output to a TV of your choice.

Just looking at the link the RCA end looks different to mine. Mine is 4 pins over 3 pins. It doesn't look from the picture (which may be misleading) that the two plugs would fit the same socket.

I must check to see what pins are connected and which aren't. :thanks

834967 2009-11-30 05:06:00 This is what you plug into the RCA adapter (en.wikipedia.org). s-video can be 4, 5 7 or 9 pin (en.wikipedia.org) Speedy Gonzales (78)
834968 2009-11-30 05:52:00 :thanks Speedy.

You don't know where the hell it came from do you?

834969 2009-11-30 05:55:00 This may help also (check 7-pin non-standard mini-DIN near bottom of page), could be for a Dell laptop or 3D video card tv output).

834970 2009-11-30 05:56:00 May have come with a videocard if its got svideo on it. Or a video camera, if you've got one. May come in handy for something Speedy Gonzales (78)
834971 2009-11-30 06:15:00 If it was in a briefcase was this for a laptop?
A few laptops, a few years ago, came with these types of adapters so that the laptop could be connected via s-video directly to a TV/projector or use the adater to connect to a TV/projector via composite video.

834972 2009-11-30 20:03:00 Thanks guy’s I think the mystery is solved.

I’m now convinced it belongs to an old Dell Inspiron 4000 Laptop.

How it got into an old briefcase is anyone’s guess. :D
