722958 2008-11-29 20:36:00 Ah, Digby . Glad to see you're as open minded as ever . . . ! Can I just point out that the company name is Vodafone not Vodaphone? Thanks for that .

So, where to begin . We broke into the top half of the OECD for pricing in January of this year . We put out a press release about it ( . vodafone . co . nz/personal/about/media-centre/2008-media-releases/OECD-breakthrough . jsp" target="_blank">www . vodafone . co . nz) and we've been in the top half ever since . We never spoke about the top quarter but we'll definitely get there in the years ahead .

And how can you say we never reduce rates? You can can call, TXT and video someone as MUCH AS YOU LIKE for $6/month . Or you can set up a Family group of four people who can call and TXT each other as MUCH AS THEY LIKE for $20 a month .

That's excellent value for money and the OECD doesn't even include those plans in its assessment of our plans .

Paul

Sorry about the name - it was genuine mistake, I had not noticed the correct spelling !

The reason the various reports do not include some of your plans is that they feel they are too restrictive in terms of contract time eg two years which is above the world-wide standard .

And as many other contributors have noted offering special deals such as best mates is NOT REDUCING your rates . Reducing your rates is dropping your current rates of 89 cents per minute (on Supaprepay) to something lower than that . Indeed I was on Motormouth and the rates were then 49 cents to Vodafone mobiles and 1 . 39 to Telecom mobiles .

If you reduced your rates say by half, you would then be in line with most developed countries and people would make more calls so your revenue would probably stay the same or even increase .

Or you could reduce your rates by say 5 cents a minute every six months or so, and you would not notice any reduction in revenue . But you would notice increased good will towards your company which at the moment as you will see has a poor reputation .

When tourists come here from Germany and Japan they cannot believe the high cost of mobile calls her in NZ . And you did not pay high prices for your 3g bandwidth like they did in Europe !

Can't wait till the third network starts up and I am still studying Black & White's rates (who use your network)

722959 2008-11-29 22:47:00 Can't wait for NZ Comms to open shop and release their rates!
Hopefully the commerce commission investigates and does something about the current situation too.

722960 2008-12-28 11:11:00 I guess Vodaphone isn't too popular in NZ gdawe5 (14358)

722962 2008-12-28 11:38:00 I had a friend who went global roaming before he left japan.he came here for holiday. They only charge him like $1.60 per minute to make a call around new zealand using his mobile which is roamed thru vodafone NZ.

Uh the price of roaming is slighly more expensive than calling local to overseas

I found that very interesting

I used about 1MB today on GPS and i was charged $1. I feel like having a waaa.

One time I checked my email and used 0.058MB and i was charged $1

Yup, they charge you $1 a day for upto 10MB of data a day. Thats pretty good for Vodafone compared to before. A rip-off compared to any other country but still better...

722964 2008-12-28 13:54:00 Probably they are trying to rip you off differently. They earn $1 even if you use 0.001mb therefore it would help them earn the money they lost when it was $10 for 1MB Ninjabear (2948)

"Once one understands that a text message travels wirelessly as a stowaway within a control channel, one sees the carriers’ pricing plans in an entirely new light."

722966 2008-12-28 18:05:00 I heard that Vodafone just sent a huge dividend back to their HO.

Was that because they need the money in the UK

Or cos they make so much from us here !

722967 2008-12-28 19:32:00 Yes when you go overseas on Vodafone, like when I was last in England my step sons prepay cost the same as here to send text messages 20c back then but my phone on an account had a surcharge on texting. When i asked them why since having an account surely I was a valued customer and more likely to be spending money with them?

Their answer was because I had subsidised calling from overseas instead.
