It's not essential but it does have a small effect on performance and sometimes an older driver can be buggy. It won't hurt anyway. Sweep - he said in the first post it was a 4850. |

| 835709 | 2009-12-02 19:23:00 | Yes, 9.11 is newer than 9.6. ATI's naming structure is such that 9.11 is NOT 9.1.1 - i.e. it is Nine Point Eleven, not Nine Point One One. Eleven is higher than Six, so there we go. A lot of companies do that actually, it's fairly common practice in the industry, but many people are too used to standard decimal numbering and it gets confusing. It especially doesn't help that AMD use traditional decimal numbering for internal versions - please pick one and stick to it :( |
