835440 2009-12-01 03:44:00 Nothing wrong with a dell laptop, its a pretty good price and a pretty good lappy from the looks of it

Really. What motherboard has it got? And then there's customer service when it all goes wrong. Absolutely, sure.

I've bought lots (30+) of Dells and had 2 problems.

One was a faulty ethernet port on the mobo & a guy in a Dell shirt was on my doorstep the next morning with a new m/b and replaced it on the spot.

The other was a faulty DVD drive which I took into their local service agent for an immediate swap.

For the price, I would say my expectations of performance and service have been exceeded and I often recommend them on a bang for buck basis.

835442 2009-12-01 21:01:00 It maybe perfectly adequate, Personally I wouldn't want one no matter what the price.

I'd put the money towards an Asus.

835445 2009-12-02 00:43:00 Delivery times seem quite long too.
Why would you wait 9-12 days for a laptop that you have paid for??
Our turn around times here are usually 1-2 days and we will transfer any data from an old machine to the new one
And you don't have to pay until you have it your hands!

There is that...

Our turn around times here are usually 1-2 days and we will transfer any data from an old machine to the new one  ...and that, among other considerations :)

I'm certainly not saying they are the best choice in every situation, just that my experience doesn't bear out the "OMG Dell!!!" response I see from some people.
