835393 2010-06-08 08:44:00 I think AVG is very effective.
The trouble is that all these newer versions get more and more bloated. I download my free software from http://www.filehippo.com and you have one page with everything you'd ever want there but just look at how AVG, for example, has increased in file size, over the months.

Even so it's a lot better than nothing at least.

835395 2010-06-08 22:40:00 you could always go back to avast aswell. avast is fine on 32 bit. im unsure of 64 bit though. anyways spybot is also good and malwarebytes antimalware. keep away from nortons, it'll damage your computer

Oh sh*t, wifey has just bought a new HP Pavillion with Nortons on it.

W7 Home Premium

Have put Avast av and Sygate firewall on it.

Should we get rid of Nortons as it is on 50 day trial still?.

835396 2010-06-08 22:52:00 If its Norton internet security, uninstall it, as Sygate and that will conflict Speedy Gonzales (78)
835397 2010-06-09 01:42:00 Get rid of Norton in any case, 50 day trial is stupid and you don't want to pay for it after that anyway.

Sygate and Avast will be much better - and your PC will run much faster!

835400 2010-06-09 07:11:00 If you install Microsoft Security Essentials and later uninstall it you will not be able to restart Security Center and Microsoft will NOT be able to help you. If you contact Security Essentials help they will tell you its a Vista problem and when you contact Vista help they will tell you its a Microsoft Security Essentials problem. All I know is its a MICROSOFT problem with no help from any of them. Roger Hunt (13648)
