| 721865 | 2008-11-22 00:25:00 | How about a brief review of the trip? (Which/where were the most interesting tourist attractions? ) Day 1:Left hotel at Auckland and went up to Paihia. On the way we stopped at the Kauri Museum, saw some massive trunks and golden Kauri Gum. We stopped at Kawakawa to see the infamous toilets. Then on to the Waitangi treaty grounds. Day 2: Took a trip up to Cape Reinga. Changed a lot since I went in 1990. Got to do some sand surfing. Got sand in my ear. Day 3: Went on the Fullers cruise boat to the hole in the rock. Did not go through it. Drove back to Auckland. Went home and had dinner there as I was already sick of the buffet style menu they have. Day 4: Took a trip up the sky tower, and went on a boat cruise around the harbour. Left Auckland and went to Whangamata. Day 5: Took a drive up to Hot Water Beach, and on to some old gold caves. We met a cheeky tour guide and got to see glow worms. Day 6: At Rotovegas and went up to the Luge where I lost a set of batteries when I hit the side. Went to the Agrodome (which I felt was a little disappointing) Went on to Rainbow Springs and saw a kiwi for the very first time. (not as big as I thought they were) Also got to see some native birds too. Dined on a Hangi Style meal. And became the 'chief' for the people. Will not be doing that in a hurry until I learn the Haka, Day 7: Visited Te Puia and saw mud pools and geysers (and geezers) Left Eggsville and went to Huka Falls as well as the Wairakei Geothermal Valley. Later that day I got my first taste of White Water Rafting on the Rongariro River. Loved every bit of it. Then we stayed at what was the worst of our rooms to have stayed at. |

| 721867 | 2008-11-22 00:34:00 | Day 8: Left Turangi and went on the Desert Road to Wellington. Went past the Army Museum. At Welly, we went up to Mt Victoria and got a good look of the city. Saw a cathedral. And drove through Oriental Bay. Day 9: Took the Interislander to the South Island for the first time. Drove to the Montana Winery for a tasting. Then on to Nelson for what would have been the best of our accomadation. Day 10: At Nelson, we took a boat up to the Abel Tasman National Park. There we did a two hour walk through the bush in crappy weather. Day 11: Left Nelson on the way to Greymouth. Passed coal seams and lots of hills. Went to the Jade Boulder Gallery (Crap) Day 12: Went to Fox Glacier. Had tasty Fush N Chups. Flew up to Fox Glacier (At $10 a minute) Had a small snowball fight. Day 13: At Wanaka. Managed to sqeeze in a trip on a jetboat. Day 14, 15, 16: At Queenstown. I missed out on doing paragliding due to bad weather. I did manage to do the LOTR drive, Kawarau Bungy, Shotover Jet and tried the luge (Not as good as Roto's) |

| 721868 | 2008-11-22 00:44:00 | Day 17: Drove up to Milford Sounds. The highlight of the tour in my opinion. Stayed on board a boat, sailed through the sounds and got a spot of Kayaking done. Never did get bitten by sandflies oddly enough. Day 18: Ended up at Dunedin. On the way I passed PCTek's workplace. Some of the other tourists commented on the grubbiness of Dunedin. Noting the broken glass, poor house condition and overall state of some of them. Got to do the Haggis Ceremony. Ate the 'haggis' with a swig of whiskey before and after. Managed to sneak in a look at Baldwin Street. Day 19: Took a look at Larnach Castle. And got my timing wrong and missed the Tarei Gorge Train. Day 20: Visited Olveston House and made friends with the house cat. Left Dunedin and went up to Moeraki to the unusual boulders. There I had the best piece of battered blue cod EVER! Headed towards Oamaru,to Omarama. Drove past some damn dams. And I noticed the irrigation channels which was quite unusual. Managed to get a trip in a glider as well. Day 21: Left Omarama, went up to Mount Cook. Had the most expensive bottle of Sprite ever. Went up to Christchurch. Drove through the Red Light District. Didn't see Personthingy. Got to the hotel and ended the trip there. I flew back two hours later so I didn't visit the city. Got back last night. |
