836921 2009-12-06 05:06:00 Hi guys and hoping you can :help:, please.

My wife loves to use the games, on Facebook, but for some reason my Firefox 3.6b4, doesn't and locks up. :badpc:

She has been using the latest, Google Chrome, but it seems the advertisement's may be slowing things down.

Can you, in simple terms, tell me how I can set up add block on Chrome as I understand it's not as easy as Firefox?

Thanks,

Ian.

836922 2009-12-06 05:55:00 That can be tricky. Looks like adsweep can block ads (its a crx or js file). BUT you have to install the dev version of chrome. Since it supports extensions properly. Or use something like privoxy, but this can leave squares on the screen (where its blocked the ads) Speedy Gonzales (78)

836924 2009-12-06 09:23:00 Not sure whether or not this will work for you but anyway:

An adblock extension for Google Chrome:

Bonus: FlashBlock for Chrome – Blocks Flash Elements On Webpages:

Double bonus: gPDF – Open PDF Links Directly In Google Docs Viewer:

836925 2009-12-06 17:15:00 However in order to run those Extensions you *must* be using the -dev build 4.0 at the moment:

You can also try OpenDNS, as it's been known to make a difference:

Hi ya, zqwerty. Open your link, url]http://www.chromeextensions.org/appearance-functioning/adblock/[/url] in Chrome and installed. Closed it and reopened Trade Me, which has heaps of add's and they still there.

836929 2009-12-06 18:15:00 Thanks, guys. If only Chrome was as, user friendly, as Firefox wouldn't have a problem. Been using Firefox since the early days and I use it all the time, but Facebook doesn't like it.

Any ideas how I can "tune" Firefox so it'll play with Facebook?

Thanks,

Ian.

So in Chrome if you click the Wrench up the top-right, then click About Google Chrome, it'll show 4.0.249.25 then, correct? If not, you've not go the latest Dev version and you need to download from the link I provided you.

Then, try something such as this: www.chromeextensions.org

You can find a ton of useful extensions at chromeextensions.org
