836801 2009-12-05 23:20:00 hey guys
i am thinking of buying an alienware laptop and want to know what would be better for games.

Between the m17x with 2.8Ghz core 2 duo, 4Gb DDR3 ram, and 2x nvidea 260m graphics cards and 2x500gb Hdd in raid 0

or the M15x with i7 1.6-2.8Ghz 720qm processor, 6Gb DDR3, 500Gb HDD and 1 260m nvidea graphics card

please don't offer me anyother laptops ideas i just want to see what would be better between these two
Thanks

836802 2009-12-05 23:39:00 the M17X would be better I think, it's got 2 video cards for a start...

having said that, the M15x has an i7 which is newer than a Core 2 (but might be slower anyway)

You can upgrade the RAM in both I expect too

But seriously, probably the Dual graphics one.
Me, I'd have the other one (Video editing, Photoshop)

836804 2009-12-06 00:03:00 do you reckon the M17x will be faster than the M15x even though the M15x has i7 quad core and more ram? razgriz1972 (15466)
836805 2009-12-06 00:10:00 RAM can be upgraded, as for the CPU I wouldn't know. Check the CPU charts on Tomshardware?

As for SLI, depends on what you're doing. Not all games support it anyway, and the performance increase may not be enough to bother with.

836806 2009-12-06 00:14:00 exactly then you turn SLI off and your on Par with a M15x
where can you upgrade alienware memory in NZ???
