| 836699 | 2009-12-05 07:41:00 | I had a shutdown while compacting. I've followed instructions for recovering the .bak files from Recycle Bin but can't find the OE folder in Docs.&Settings except by Search...thats my first query. The folder contains both .bak and .dbx so why are the folders still missing in OE? How do I get everything back into OE? I'm on XP Prof. Martynz |

| 836703 | 2009-12-06 02:52:00 | As I said I've located the OE folder by a roundabout method and all the missing .dbx files seem to be there. I've used the OE Import function (but had to copy all the files to a Desktop folder because I couldn't browse to the OE folder) everything goes A-OK (no error messages and final confirmation that everything was imported)....but it wasn't. There are a few folders with contents but they might not have been lost in the first place. I've even tried moving 1 folder at a time, no success. And I can't get at my confirmation for the 2 tickets I booked for the James Taylor/Carole King concert. Someone please help. Martynz |

| 836704 | 2009-12-06 08:58:00 | I have never needed to do it but I am wondering whether you can restore the BAK files to recover your emails? Have a look through these pages (www.google.co.nz), particularly the first one, and try the suggestions listed. Make backup copies of the DBX files before you proceed. Alternatively, you could try DBXtract to try and recover your emails. I think the program is no longer free but but older versions are if you can find them. |

I've tried the biz of changing files from bak to dbx but that doesn't work, in fact the situation is almost worse...all the extra folders I had created in OE have disappeared. There seem to be freeware versions of DBX but the couple I dloaded don't have any Help files. Martynz |

Use the drop down box in the "File" field to extract from other folders. In my case I have extracted the files to another partition, which is specified in the Output path field. | FoxyMX (5) | ||

What did you do about the old OE folder. delete or what? I have got a Saved folder with lots of subfolders, I suppose I'll have to go through the whole lot. Martynz |
