836586 2009-12-05 03:44:00 I am at a mates trying to set up their home wireless network. I am having trouble trying to connect a vista home premium laptop to the network. The router is a Dlink wireless adsl2+. The following error shows next to the wireless network on the laptop: The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network. Thanks REDALERT3COMMANDO (14821)

836588 2009-12-05 04:14:00 Try this (social.technet.microsoft.com). What are the other computers on the network? Speedy Gonzales (78)

836590 2009-12-05 19:00:00 Basically the Wireless Network has the same name (SSID) as a previous D-Link network you've connected to (By default I'm pretty sure it's just "D-Link").
What you need to do is tell Windows to forget the old one. You could go through and simply manually update with the new key, but that requires you to know what kind of encryption the new wireless network is using, such as WEP, WPA, or WPA2, then if it's using TKIP or AES.

For that reason I suggest you simply remove the old saved wireless profile, and let Windows auto-detect.

Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network & Sharing Center --> (on the left-hand side) Manage Wireless Networks

Now you should be staring at a list of all the wireless networks you've saved passwords for. Click on the one that has the same name as your mates, and tell it to remove / delete it.

Now, try and reconnect :)
