These people are not idiots, they give NIS good marks, if a product did not work they would say so.
So what is going on here.

I had a quick look there.
They may not be idiots, but they do not impress me.

1. AVG 8.00 free is not there, like it or not this is very popular world-wide.
2. Avaast Free is not there either.

Yet they feature some programs that I have never even heard of. !

So where is their credability ? Surely they should test all popular av programs, not just paid ones ?

Also their forum does not look very active - only 11 viewers on line when I checked.

724740 2008-12-05 18:53:00 Exactly . . .
. . . I can't believe all the computer magazines and expert testers would rate a product highly if they were not satisfied with the results they were getting . . . .
I can . I tried it .

724741 2008-12-05 20:46:00 I am not sure that this forum takes a completely unbiased approach to some products and even when improved versions are available there is a tendency to discredit it by any means available because of a mind set and general long standing dislike of the product. you are right - not to many people in this forum like the products - and yes going from past experiences there may be some bias - but just because a product is altered doesn't mean its going to take a dramatic turn around in performance. If the product is good then people say so, if its not so good the same - When and IF Norton improves I will gladly say its better - but until that time ..........

When ever Norton makes a mayor change I download it and see if its performance any better - sometimes it is - for example I have already mentioned it loads faster and is not so much of a system hog, so there is a GOOD improvement - this is actually the second time I tested NIS09, did it when it first came out, with similar results.

While I wouldn't expect any AV to get every thing - its a real kick in the guts as I posted before - the infected drive, which does have SP2 installed wouldn't even allow NIS09 to load - it killed the program - Yet Nod32 went straight in. Even on a clean drive, and scanning a known infected drive, NIS09 couldn't do it.

In my books if you pay for software, no matter what it is it should at least work to some degree - how would anyone feel if they brought NIS09, knowing they had infections, and the above happened - it didn't work because the bugs are smarter ??:mad:

All the "Lab" tests in the world mean nothing when its obvious the software is not working.

Its a bit like me saying to someone go and slam your hand in the door - I tried it and it doesn't hurt a bit - if the person did it, and it hurts like crazy who would they believe. :)

BUT back to the original offer of 360 - Post #53 & 805 looks at the thread - I notice no ones actually Jumped in boots and all and said - Yer - I'll take it from you - Thanks.
