Trev - to say the crash is not very significant show a distinct lack of aviation knowledge or interest. For your information there were 5 NZers on board.
Apart from that this could have a very big impact on Airbus A/C considering the nature of the accident and lack of any prior warning of any problems coupled with the FBW controls on the Airbus.
For the aviation industry and those interested in aviation the cause of this crash
is of great importance and as such this crash is very significant indeed.

724229 2008-12-02 08:20:00 Didn't more then five people (New Zealanders) die on our roads this weekend just passed?

Amazing how we ignore the deaths on our doorsteps, Yet throw a crap arse plane into the equation and its worthy of hype.

724230 2008-12-02 09:13:00 I think its many more times dangerous driving to the airport than flying.
I agree with Metla a bad weekend in NZ could kill say 8 or 10 people esp a van crash but it dosent get much attention.
Dumb airplane gets a control problem and crashes killing 5 is major news for days its quite wrong.

Sorry couldn't disagree with you more.

724232 2008-12-02 10:18:00 Um, what if the plane (exactly the same plane) got back to NZ and a few weeks later went on a trip to say Aussie for example with 150+ people on board and crashed.

It doesn't matter how many people on the plane, whether 5, or 150, it's still a huge deal. Normally, car crashes are due to driver fault (drunks, distractions etc), whereas planes usually are a lot more serious. I dunno about you, but everytime I get on a plane I expect it to be safe. Whereas when I go driving I expect myself to drive defensively and keep myself safe.

Probably doesn't make much sense ^, but the chances of having an accident driving on the road are a lot higher than a plane crashing. If car crashes only happened once a week, then they'd probably make it to the news too.

In other words. If it's on the news you probably don't have to worry about it.

724235 2008-12-02 22:03:00 It does sound pretty bad ass.

It's cancer

724236 2008-12-02 22:39:00 Well given the number of people that are transported throughout the world in these planes and given the fact that more and more distrust seems to surfacing among those closely involved with them, then it becomes imperative they find exactly what happened.

It’s not necessarily only those on board that are at risk if one decides to do a hell dive over a city. :stare:

724237 2008-12-02 23:06:00 Maybe the NZ airforce could use them for dive bombers prefect (6291)
