724981 2008-12-02 22:42:00 Bummer.... I used my 1,000th post for that frivolous thing. I was going to celebrate it by posting something really controversial and get myself banned for 24 hrs.

Now I will have to wait for my 2,000th post to get the same kick out of it.

724982 2008-12-03 20:53:00 Coro Street is aimed at anybody without a brain...................

Why?

724983 2008-12-03 21:02:00 Why?

If you had one before watching (highly unlikely) then it will be mush by the time an episode is over.

724987 2008-12-04 13:37:00 A dreary boring programme about dreary boring characters for dreary boring viewers who identify with the said characters - from a 68yo who cannot abide it or any other soap. KenESmith (6287)
724988 2008-12-04 14:19:00 You try living with a Coro fanatic. I hide the remote!! Knownothing (7989)
724989 2008-12-04 19:52:00 I love Coro St and I'd probably qualify as an oldie (sigh). I often ask myself what it is I like about it. My English background probably helps, although I never watched it when I lived there, and despite what has been said in some of the other posts, I think in general the scriptwriting and acting are pretty good - although it does sometimes sink into melodrama and mush (it is a soap, after all). I think one of the things that gives it its strength is in fact its longevity. A character or a plotline can refer back to things that happened 20 years ago, and they actually did, rather than being just a scriptwriter's fiction (yes, I know it's all fiction), and that gives it a depth that most other soaps lack.

I don't watch any other soaps, and the occasional short bits of Shortland Street and Home and Away I've seen have been appalling - both acting and scripts. And don't start me on the afternoon soaps - ugh!

I think the posts that have dissed Coro because of the way they speak is total xenophobia. Of course they speak differently - they live in a different country!
