838187 2009-12-09 20:20:00 What does everyone use to host files online?

I'm looking for somewhere to upload recordings of my band for the other members to download. So the files aren't big - 5mb-6mb max. I know about mediafire and rapidshare but would prefer something that offers a contents page of everything that I have up. And also the ability to directly link to the files. eg - www.geocities.com/kettles/toiletduck.mp3

Just looking for options :)

838190 2009-12-09 22:12:00 Skydrive is the way to go. For ease of use go with Dropbox, limited to 2GB free. I thought geocities is going to shut down but you are still using it. kamo1 (14583)
838191 2009-12-09 22:24:00 Actually I haven't used it in years! It's what I used to use when I had a website. Back when their space allocation was something like 16mb :P

cheers guys i'll check them out, any others?

838192 2009-12-10 00:14:00 I use DropBox, it integrates in your 'My Documents' as a normal folder and has another folder inside (called Public) for setting files up as downloadable links. They are direct links as well which is a bonus.

An example of this is: dl.dropbox.com - I simply moved the file to the folder and copied the link.

You get 2GB of free space and another 250MB (up to 3GB) if you refer people. You can also upload files through the website if you don't want to install the application. There is no file size limit if you upload through their application and 350MB if you use their website.

838193 2009-12-10 00:27:00 If you sign up here (mozy.com)(referal) you get 2GB free backup space which you can backup files outomatically.
I have been using Mozy-home for a couple of years without a problem. If you need more space there is a paid version as well.

838194 2009-12-10 05:11:00 Drop.io is good. It's fairly limited in its space but I like its convenience. Otherwise SkyDrive is great as mentioned above. beeswax34 (63)
