837972	2009-12-08 23:15:00	If I have backed up all important data to laptop ( checked ) what is the best option to upgrade.? Is a full format ideal ? If not ... I have a partition data E: Will this be affected by the upgrade process ( not full format?) Can I use E:for windows.old ?? Windows xp3 lives on C: Thanks	cowboy stu (7021)
837973	2009-12-08 23:23:00	You have to do a full reinstall regardless when going from XP to Win7. It will save your data in windows.old on the C:, but it's good to back up anyway. The data on other partitions shouldn't be touched unless you tell it to format that particular partition during the install.	wratterus (105)

837977	2009-12-09 00:03:00	E should be fine. Just format C, then reinstall windows. E wont be touched. It'll still be there after windows has been installed. Or copy whatever from E first, then delete E and C then reformat / partition C. Then put whatever back on E (or whatever letter it gives you after)	Speedy Gonzales (78)
