2009-12-09 21:45:00 | Hi this is my specs E8500 2x2gb DDR2 1066MHz P5Q-E Sapphire 4850 512mb dual slot 640gb western digital 32mb cache Avast and MSE are running and malware bytes anti malware All settings set to max When I go to play multiplayer, using fraps my fps are from 50-90fps but in some certain maps (or it happens in more then others) the fps will drop to around 10fps making it unplayable and some times like freezing for a sec. I move a fraction and its ok, move back and same thing happens. This can happen when there is no action going on. If im just running around or turning a corner. What ive done is update the drivers to 9.11 from the amd site. What is happening and how can I fix this? Theres no point in playing since I die because of this. Also any body else with this similiar set up have this problem? Thanks.

2009-12-09 22:17:00 | Hey, im 100% sure its not lag. Cause it will happen alot more on certain maps and tends to happen in the same areas. Like it will occur in some area, I move around then go back to the same place and the fps will drop. I used fraps to see if it was lag but the fps was dropping around 10fps Should I unistall avast? and just have MSE and malware bytes anti malware?

2009-12-09 23:08:00 | Yea two Antivirus is a really bad move, uninstall one. Most viruses will have less performance impact lol. Not sure I fully trust MSE, MS have never been great with security products, but MSE does seem pretty good at least atm. I dont play modern warfare 2, but have witnessed the same type of problem in various games like Crysis, where frame dropoff is huge just in a few areas due to heavy textures or some sort of effect like steam/smoke etc. Run Performance monitor and monitor CPU usage, be interesting to know if that area inside the game has a large CPU spike.

2009-12-10 04:49:00 | Hey, how do I roll back my graphics drivers to 9.4 from 9.11? And what are the steps of removing the 9.11 drivers?

2009-12-10 05:10:00 | 2 Anti viruses? NAY NAY! Stay with MSE as GameJunkie said. How do you roll back? You shouldn't actually need to.. what is your opertating system? Right click My Computer>Properties> Device Manager>Rollback/Uninstall graphics. What you need to be aware of (and yes, I play MW2 all the time, and have it at near high graphics) is that SOME maps require more graphics, like Anti-Aliasing which can have a huge impact on certain graphic cards. What I recommend is to play with your graphics, try a higher resolution, with less Anti-Alising or none. Try rid of smoke effects, as shadowing can also be a factor. Yeah, certain parts or situations like watching a helicopter blowing up from a launcher, or running through smoke, or too many aeroplanes in the sky blowing up stuff can take down your FPS. Play with, and find out what is best with your system. For example I have to sacrifice a little Anti-Aliasing for multiplayer, because I bump my ATI Radeon 4870 to 1920x1080, but my graphics card is best suited for 1400x900 resolution W.S. Singleplayer is fine but multiplayer - with everything moving, unpredictably it can hinder graphics in parts. You won't be getting lag from your CPU at all... the E8500 is fine by the way. My rig, just so as you can understand Intel Core 2 Quad 6700 (2.7Ghz) 3G DDR2 800Mhz RAM ATI Radeon 4870 1G Sapphire HD I mean.. if you I run my resolution at 1400x900, I can run any game at high-end graphics (like crysis) but when I change my resolution to 1920x1080 for my 24'', I have to sacrifice a little. But it's worth it.
