838891 2009-12-11 22:20:00 I have rung telecom and they have told me that ADSL2+ is not available in my area yet and my distance from the exchange is 2km. But on my TG585v7 stats page my DSL type listed as G.992.5 annex A which I believe is ADSL2+
I live on Glenfern Road in Howick, Auckland

So my problem is am I on ADSL2+ and if so then why are my speeds so slow?

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/mbps]: 667 / 8.206
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 19,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 22,5 / 37,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 12,0 / 12,0

If any other stats are required please ask!

Thanks in advance,

838892 2009-12-11 22:29:00 According to the telecom site, if you put 3, 5 or 7 Glenfern Road in, (is this in cockle bay)? It says:

This address is scheduled to be connected to a roadside cabinet with ADSL2+ technology by Jan 2011. You may find you have been connected earlier.

838894 2009-12-11 22:36:00 if he weren't on ADSL2+ why would he be connected at speeds greater than 7.6mbps? Xavier (11355)
838895 2009-12-11 22:39:00 Mine shows 11671 downstream, but I'm not on a ADSL2 plan. Speedy Gonzales (78)
838896 2009-12-11 22:43:00 ah yeah... the connection is ADSL2+ but the plan may not be optimized to use it... >.> my bad. Xavier (11355)
838897 2009-12-11 23:16:00 My Belkin router says G.992.5 (ADSL2+) Up Load 859 kbps and download 7661 kbps and not due for ADSL2 till April 2010.

838898 2009-12-12 06:23:00 Ok thanks for clearing all that up, so to verify, a modem/router can be running in ADSL2+ mode but still receive normal ADSL? narutophantom (12610)
838899 2009-12-12 06:29:00 Yes. The phone line can be ADSL2 enabled by Telecom, and this will show up in the 'control panel" of the modem as the line speed.

My RTA1320 says 13502 kbps download connection speed, but I'm with Orcon, and because they haven't put their equipment into the local exchange yet, Im on their 8Mbps plan and get around 7600 max line speed.

You wouldn't automatically receive ADSL2 either, not if you are only paying for ADSL. You would need to sign up with your ISP for the faster plan when it becomes available.

Actually, just because you're getting slower speeds than 8000kbps, that doesn't mean you're *not* on ADSL2+.

I'm on an ADSL2+ plan, sync'ing at ADSL2+ speeds, but because of my distance I'm only getting 3900-4100bps downstream, and around 900kbps upload.

There's other contributing factors ...
