838743 2009-12-11 06:44:00 I have just fitted this card [HIS ATI HD 5770 PCI-E 2.0 1GB 128-bit DDR5, 850/4800 MHz, Dual DVI/ HDMI/ Display Port, DX11, F] to my Acer M3100 along with a 500 Watt ATX Power Supply and Patriot Signature DDR2 4GB (2GBx2) CL5 PC2-6400 (800MHz) DIMM kit with Heatshields.
Its all working fine but for one odd thing....
In the device manager; Under display adaptor; the card shows as ATI Radeon X1250..... why? and how can I fix it? Do I even need to?

838744 2009-12-11 06:49:00 Did you install the latest drivers? I wouldn't worry too much if it's working as it should. qazwsxokmijn (102)
838745 2009-12-11 06:58:00 OOOOO [thinks - ting!] yes I did - but, I let it auto download.... I'll go try manual download.
And true its working fine, I'm just tinkering - mainly 'cas I'm stuck in the Fade in Dragon Age Origins and need time to think how to get out.... lol....and NOOOO spoilers ta!

838746 2009-12-11 07:28:00 Apparently the driver name is X1250.
Device manager is recognizing the driver, not the particular card.
OK.... Back to the Fade

Yeah, don't worry about it man. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just check your graphics card manufactures website, and do a update from their adviser. If not, sweet as sugar.

838749 2009-12-11 11:48:00 Does the pc have an onboard graphics card?
It sounds like it is still using that.

Ah, that's right. X1250 is an integrated chipset. You'll have to disable it in the BIOS to use the 5770. Uninstall the previous driver first, boot into BIOS, disable onboard graphics and reinstall the driver.

838752 2009-12-16 07:26:00 Dont worry heaps of people do it. My mate built a pc for a person and didn't test it before giving it to them. They got it home to South Auckland plugged everything in pushed power button started up and didn't detect hard drive or optical drive. Turns out he had only connected the Y cable to them and forgot to plug the molex into it. nedkelly (9059)
