838402 2009-12-10 08:46:00 I have a near dormant laptop which I haven't used for about 7 weeks. When I try to update Avast 4.8 Home I get the error message "Not enough storage is available to process this demand". What does this mean and how do I get araound it? Any help appreciated. 838403 2009-12-10 08:49:00 Sounds like your hdd is full / or nearly full. How much space is left on it? Use ccleaner and remove the temp files etc, or uninstall programs you dont use / need. Looks like this message appears in windows 98 (forum.avast.com). What OS is on it?

It seems to affect 98 (forum.avast.com), more than any other version of windows. I would uninstall it, then download the latest version, (since it now supports 95/98 again), then reinstall it

838404 2009-12-10 08:51:00 Have 7GB free space that's what makes it a bit puzzling! Shortstop (632)
838405 2009-12-10 08:59:00 Uninstall it then download / reinstall the latest version, if Win98 is on it as above Speedy Gonzales (78)
838406 2009-12-10 09:00:00 Try downloading and installing the virus definitions from here (www.majorgeeks.com) if your version of Windows is other than 98. FoxyMX (5)
838407 2009-12-10 09:06:00 Ashamed to say OS is ME. Thanks will try that site. Shortstop (632)
838408 2009-12-10 09:14:00 lol. We'll forgive you :p. If the webshield (if you use it) is always on 0, disable it. According to the FAQ, it doesnt work in 98/ME (www.avast.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
838409 2009-12-10 18:46:00 Pointless:
This on Avasts System Requirements page:
Note: The operating systems Windows 95/98/Me/NT4 will be supported until the end of 2009.

Nor is there any antispyware that works with 98/ME now either.

Upgrade time.

838410 2009-12-10 20:24:00 What was the point in updating it on 27 November, this year so it would be compatible with 95 and 98 again then lol. I wouldnt have wasted my time Speedy Gonzales (78)
838411 2009-12-10 20:55:00 New PC mate. :p

I've officially given up on Win98 and WinME unless it's something simple. NOD32 is the only AV I'm aware of that still works in 98 and ME.
