728206 2008-12-12 18:28:00 There are far more than two victims. There are the families who get sucked into the Justice System which include the person manslaughtered and the families of all people involved in this case. This to me includes the family of the Tagger and also the family of the person found guilty of manslaughter. It can't be easy for either party.

I should have mentioned the families, it was in my mind; as with every 'victim' incident, there are others who also deeply feel the effect.

Sam, that subconscious moral grounding you mention is sadly missing in a lot of cases. I'm not talking of religious teachings, just the teaching of being aware of right and wrong and knowing there could (should) be consequences.

728207 2008-12-12 18:38:00 Can you be mentioned in the New Years Honours List whilst in jail?

He should be, for “Serving His Country Beyond The Call Of Duty”.

And, they should declare an Open Season on all Taggers to boot. ;)

728208 2008-12-12 19:38:00 If I was on the jury I would have voted for not guilty and given him a $10,000 reward.

It is a shame the tagger died, but he should not have been out at night getting up to no good.

It is also the fault of all the sickly white liberals and judges that have let taggers get away with it over the years. If they had given jail sentences to every tagger caught, and made them do them to the full term, then we would not have no where near as much tagging, so that people like Emery would not have got so pissed off !

I hope he gets a better jury on his appeal. The last jury was a rogue jury I think you do get them from time to time. Thats why we have an appeals process so he can get some justice.

Declare them a noxious weed?
A bounty might be better.

728211 2008-12-12 20:47:00 Why does a 15yo stop and turn to fight? Because he knows he can get away with it. That is the issue with our justice system. A 15yo can commit an adult crime and know they won't get an adult penalty. I'm guessing that had the tagger chosen to continue running he would have got away.

What made him stop and confront Bruce Emery? Was it arrogance? Did he think he had a chance? Was he slowly being reeled in? I doubt it, but it was one of many stupid decisions that night.

The outcome for the tagger didn't fit the crime, but it's pretty hard to raise sympathy for a tagger - especially if you have been a victim. But now it is the immediate families who are paying the price for the stupidity of 3 people.

There's a part of me that would like to see the public reaction in the event a similar thing happened but the families involved were reversed. I'm not condoning anything at all.....I may be wrong (I hope I am) but I doubt we would see the same public reaction. Or is there a universal loathing of taggers such that it wouldn't make any difference?

There are laws now that say you cant kill anyone but it still happens. There are laws that say you cant drink and drive but that still happens. I agree that taggers should get punished harshly but this wont fix the root problem.

How about if the tagger had the knife, confronted the home owner, killed him with the knife? self-defence?

Everyone seems to be wrapped up in the circumstances, But hell, the circumstances are so petty, its a weak cop out.

I fail to see how simply being a vandal makes it all right to kill him.And im pretty certain the killer is regretting every action he took, and understands how stupid they were, No matter how many people are applading him.

They aren't the ones with blood on their hands.

728214 2008-12-12 21:12:00 Personally I don’t have any time for the bleatings of the Tagger’s family.

If they had shown some parenting responsibilities and took and interest in what their child was doing, where he was and how he was behaving, then this whole thing wouldn’t have occurred.

When I was growing up my parents were responsible for my actions until I was 21. Yes 21. Maybe if the parents of these Taggers were made to restore the damage physically and financially then the problem would cease.

I can imagine my father supplying the paint and painting someone’s house because I’d Tagged it. :D And if he’d failed to do that, then he would have been arrested and thrown in jail.

The trouble is there is no discipline in the schools or homes thanks to all the bleeding heart liberals. :groan:

728215 2008-12-12 21:14:00 Vermin need to be eliminated, anyone who defaces other people's things/property multiple times knowing that it will annoy the owner is vermin, don't care what their age is or any other excuse, eliminate with extreme prejudice.

Metla doesn't care about property that much because he works for wreckers, but as for me I love the ownership and correct working of material things and having some little a...hole make his mark on my freshly painted fence drives me round the bend.

Let them mark up their own property not mine!!!!!!!!!!!
