728337 2008-12-14 20:56:00 What kind of margin to you guys/gals put on your computer systems? 15%?

I don't put any %. I put a flat fee onto it.
Building one today, it works out at 8%. Thats partly because from the time I did his quote to the time I ordered bits some more of them had gone up.
It wasn't long enough in between for me to put that back on him.

Its should have been more like 12%. That includes build and configuring etc etc.

Similar here.

It's no good doing a standard mark up, as any decently spec'd PC would be way outside everyones price range.

BIG places that order a certain component(s) by the hundreds get better discounts. I looked at importing cases at one stage - to get a "good" discount I would need to order a container load, and save about $10 per case over my supplier -whip de do.

728340 2008-12-15 01:27:00 PC parts have bugger all profit. Even NL don't, friend had a cost + 10% doscount with them and asked about PCs and consoles and was told the sell price isn't even cost + 10% - they do make more on peripherals. I don't. pctek (84)

Bask in the knowledge that there's at least one very satisfied customer out there? :clap

They also make a nice margin by selling unneeded extended warranties...
