| 838641 | 2009-12-15 01:41:00 | Tried to do a disc scan with SFC /Scannow and was told Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. After some searching I found a service had been turned off. Scan found some corrupt files and replaced them. Computer now running and I have reinstalled both Mozilla firefox and thunderbird I have lost my bookmarks and all saved passwords but it now runs Still no search though. Switch to Copernic or Anything now I think Blam thanks for your help I think I did something wrong or got the order to do things messed up. |

| 838642 | 2009-12-15 02:51:00 | Have you tried scanning for any malware? As I instructed you to only copy to the new user account, the old user account should be intact...is your data still there? If many system files have been corrupted then you may want to perform a repair install or a reinstall of the OS. Try performing a chkdsk /f in cmd? It may fix your programs, files disappearing.. | 838643 | 2009-12-16 00:05:00 | Blam I tried to copy but ran out of disc space I think the problem came when some files asked me if I wanted to replace one file with another and other files asked if I wanted to merge one file with another. I think the merge caused the problem. I ran the sfc /scannow and it replaced corrupt files. Did a Malwarebytes scan nothing found. Also had a problem removing Comodo firewall as the uninstall.exe was missing. Will try the chksd /f in cmd. Thanks | Roger Hunt (13648) | ||
| 838644 | 2009-12-16 05:50:00 | OK Tried that in /f nothing happened but tried it with /c and got Warning F Parameter not set then after it finished Windows checked the file system and found no problems. MY SEARCH NOW WORKS, THANKS |

| 838647 | 2009-12-16 10:07:00 | Try looking in your old user folder: C:\Users\Old Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ XXXXXX.default\bookmarkbackups From there, copy the JSON files if any, then copy them to your new bookmarkbackups folder(C:\Users\New Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ XXXXXX.default\bookmarkbackups), then in firefox select "Organise Bookmarks">Import and Backup>Restore and select the backup you copied.
