838397 2009-12-10 19:52:00 I'm running Win7 Pro x64 with 8 GB of RAM and it's fan freakin tastic! I see no need to run x64 if you only have 2GB of RAM, but it's not going to hurt at all. The *only* program I've had not work so far is Daemon Tools Lite, the free version doesn't do x64. Chucked on Virtual Clone Drive and that issue was sorted. Everything else has been gravy! wratterus (105)
838398 2009-12-10 20:09:00 I used Win 7 x64 on my work laptop (HP Core2Duo, 4GB RAM).

Runs ok, but I've had issues with unexplained lock ups etc and unresponsiveness of applications for no reason.

Rebuilt the lappie using a x86 install and I've had no issues at all.

I think the thing with x64 is that if you really HAVE to use X64 then go for it but if you're going to be using predominantly legacy x86 apps then I would stick with the x86 version.

A agree that speed wise x64 is far superior... application installs run and complete much faster.

Cheers

838399 2009-12-10 20:34:00 Just picked up Win7 Pro 64 last Tuesday to replce WinXP.

I thought I may have problems with my HP7260 printer but no. Plugged it in and Win7 installed drivers

Only 2 gig RAM here at the moment but I will shove in another 2.
