838231 2009-12-10 02:04:00 I've downloaded Memtest and burned it on CD. It is 46KB compressed. Then put the CD in PC I wanted to test and thought it would run at boot. Did not.
Any ideas?
Thanks

838232 2009-12-10 02:28:00 Use MS Ram Diagnostic instead, it's just as good and a million times faster. pctek (84)
838233 2009-12-10 02:38:00 Or if you want to persist with memtest, ensure you have this file:
www.memtest86.com

Then do this:
"To build a boot-able CD-ROM use your CD burning software to create an image from the un-zipped ISO file. Be sure to use a create from image option. DO not simply copy the file to a CD."

838235 2009-12-10 03:50:00 If you have Vista or Windows 7 just click the Start button, then type "mem" and you should see "Windows Memory Diagnostic". It'll prompt you to restart your PC and then it will do the same thing as memtest86+ Chilling_Silence (9)
838236 2009-12-10 22:50:00 You must extract the ISO file from the ZIP file first

Then go to your burning program and find the option called "Burn Image" and select the ISO image file

if you just burnt the ISO or ZIP file to a data CD it won't work.

If you did burn it correctly, then your PC is not booting from the disc properly

Which is MSs RAM Diagnostic built in rather than on disk. I prefer the disk, don't entirely trust the O/S if there is a fault.
