730723 2008-12-18 20:50:00 Hillary Clinton's role as Secretary of State muddied by protagonists' clandestine cash .

Bill Clinton raised millions of dollars from governments and squeezed other politicians in the Middle East and Asia for financial support, raising fresh concerns if subsequent favors received might somehow destroy future impartiality of his wife’s role as Barack Obama’s newly-appointed Secretary of State .

It is unheard of for a yet-seated president elect to have so many scandals appear, months before his swearing in . Most of these scandals seem to be from and about Obama's appointees themselves, leading Americans to doubt the ethics of their next president .

On such scandal involves the surfacing simony for- and pandering to- Frank Giustra, a Canadian mining executive, who either personally or through his company donated up to $30 million and then flew Mr . Clinton to Kazakhstan on his private jet in 2005 .

Mr Clinton at that point did a US policy about-face and praised the authoritarian president Nursultan Nazarbayev for his humanitarian works and conscious involvement in the strife of Kazakhstan's citizens where no such works or conscience has existed either before or since that time .

Mr Giustra later won a uranium-mining contract in Kazakhstan shortly after he made his donations to Mr . Clinton’s foundation .

The release of the donor's list underscores ongoing ties between the (both) Clintons and Indian politicians and business moguls - at a time when America’s relationship and influence with Pakistan will be a central element of Mr Obama’s foreign policy .

Mr Clinton received donations ranging between $1 million and $5 million from Amar Singh, an Indian politician who has been embroiled in ethics controversies;

. . . . . . . . a donation - coincidentally - in the same amount from a wind turbine supplier owned by Tulsi R Tanti, one of India’s wealthiest businessman;

(ibid:) which was between $500,000 and $1 million from the Confederation of Indian Industry, and from Dave Katragadda, another wealthy Indian executive .

It's Bill and Hill, redux .

Considering the ethics of the last 8 years, that of disastrous neocon ideology, this comment is laughable.

You missed the point: Obama is touted as "The Messiah" and a leader for change.

There are plenty of wingnuts who will tout anything.

And the point, SJ, is to put things in perspective, ie 8 years of neocon ideology.
