| 730593 | 2008-12-18 07:54:00 | Hey im new to the pcworld forums, but ive been reading the magazine for a few months. im currently on a dial-up connection though and it won't be upgraded till the new year so apologizes for any slow replys. Ok. im currently using a laptop because my desktop doesnt have a dail-up modem only a broadband/lan modem. I brought my new desktop pc from playtech.co.nz(sorry not meaning to advertise) in november this year. it cost me $500 not including monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers or an os. the os cost me $166 from playtech.co.nz also. Its specs are. amd athlon x2 5000+ processor running @ 2.6ghz with 512mb x2 cachewith gskill 2gb ddr2-800 ram, a 320gb hdd(western digital caviar) se16 an asus vento chassis(case) and an asus dvd-ram drive(20x ide). its motherboard is a asus m2n-mx se plus am2+ m-atx. it also has a 350w psu (asus) its os is windows xp home service pack 3.... so.... what did u get from where and for how much? |

| 730594 | 2008-12-18 08:09:00 | Playtech is an excellent store. Never did any business with them, but by words of mouth (and texts) I think I can safely say they are good. I personally get my components from a few sources - trademe, nzoczone, elive, expert infotech, Elive, and ExtremePC. |

Case (Asus Vento A8), 2 GB of DDR2-800 ram, 460w PSU, 250 GB seagate hdd for $300 Another 2 GB of DDR-800 2 ram for about $62. $404 for a 22' WS LCD $25 or something for a internal SDHC card reader $63 or something for the videocard Intel dual core 2.5 - About $162.00 20x ASUS DVD burner. ASUS P5Q SE/R mobo - About $160 Most of this was discounted, since the shop sold me 1 dead mobo as a replacement, 1 mobo (it worked, but the firewire was dead). The original system was an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI, but then it and the replacement were screwed. So, in the end I got an Intel mobo lol |

I dont buy online dont use / have credit cards That makes more sense :blush: IIRC alot of online computer stores offer a direct credit option when purchasing - I use this because I too don't have a credit card. You'll save 1.5% too :) |
