839821 2009-12-15 08:14:00 I want to bring order to my bookmarks in FF. Where does FF store it - is it similar to IE's Favorites where you can go to the folder and fiddle around to your heart's content? I find the organise bookmarks a bit difficult.

839822 2009-12-15 08:20:00 Firefox saves the bookmarks in an HTML (webpage) file. This is something you don't want to manually edit. :waughh:

Maybe someone can suggest an Firefox add-on for organising the bookmarks that is easier to use than the inbuilt one?

839825 2009-12-15 18:44:00 Well Gary, for once I haven't got a clue what is going on when I open "organise bookmarks" - the only links I see are the history links, with no ability to see my bookmarks or have the ability to make new folders. If it's so easy, I blame my stupidity on old age.

Thanks for the addon darkstar09

839827 2009-12-15 19:21:00 Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks/ ... you have a list of folders in the left hand panel and if you select a folder you see the entries in the wider right hand panel. You can drag and drop, cut, copy, delete etc using mouse right click.

When you highlight an entry then the detail is shown in the bottom panel - there you can edit the name shown (e.g. to reduce "Telewonder your marvellous provider of all phone services" down to "My phones"). They tend to give you bookmark detail that stretches from one side of screen to the other.

The changes are saved when you X (top right) to close, there doesn't seem to be any provision for "save".

It should show all your bookmarks . They may be in folders . I don't much like the default folders, I delete all them and make my own and then store bookmarks in them according to category . Like:
Shops
SubFolders - Suppliers, Ink, Food etc etc
Then things like PC STuff - subfolders, Malware, Utilities, Hardware etc etc
