839064 2009-12-13 03:00:00 Ok I know Jack Schitt about phones

I only use my phone for texting ocasionally and the very odd phonecall, I spend about $20 a year on my phone.

What would be really handy would be if my cellphone could access my router and get my email without using the phone network, is that even possible?

Ok I realise my current phone won't do it but do other phones do it?

839065 2009-12-13 03:04:00 Only if it has wifi. Eg. Like the iphone or a few top end nokias. Usually only top end phones have wifi. robbyp (2751)
839066 2009-12-13 03:50:00 I guess you mean while you are at home, not out and about. I can't help you but clarification might help someone who can gary67 (56)

839068 2009-12-13 08:02:00 Can you give us the exact model of the phone?

If you have money to spend, an ipod touch would be perfect. And you could do much more than just checking emails:p

Of course you can do more than check emails on a phone :p (especially one that can).

Not most phones around the price range of the ipod touch.

So you're saying that I can check emails on my phone, but not make calls? ;)

Average phone ahead by miles. Most phones these days will support web browsing, email, media playback, camera, social media etc. An iPod Touch can't even send a text or make/receive a call.

For the OP who rarely uses their phone, an iPod touch would be a perfect candidate..

Obviously its quite hard to compare a phone with an ipod touch, but when compared using specific features, the ipod touch can be better in many regards, and may be an excellent secondary device for internet activities, as the ipod touch can do much more in this sense, and in a much neater interface too...not to mention it has a larger screen than most phones.
