| 730388 | 2008-12-19 07:59:00 | Leaving area time 1.28pm Number ****303 Returning area 3.02 pm Number****904 so simple maths 1.5 hrs approx = 601 tickets at a min of $30 each 601 x $30 = :eek: 601 tickets / 90 minutes = 6.6 tickets per minute..... that 1 ticket every 10 seconds.... |

| 730390 | 2008-12-19 09:09:00 | Most will find, that if a careless driver fails to take a corner properly and ends up in your lane or passes in a dangerous manner ,causing a head on impact, It won't matter in the slightest if they were doing 95, 100, 105 or 110. A car driven by a moron is a dangerous weapon at any speed,Perhaps if they concentrated on raising the level of competence of NZ drivers then we would find less incidents of excessive and inappropriate/dangerous speed. And they could relax on the militant and misguided "speed kills" campaign. |

The nearest school would be , travailing at 50 K about 3-5 minutes away . May seem a short time but drive at 50K and see how far 3 - 5 minutes is . The bull sh*t paper says which is fair enough - as I have school a aged kid as well, and I'm always more alert around those areas . To answer the question how many got "pinged" I got it both ways leaving the area and coming back . ticket numbers all the same except the last 3 numbers Leaving area time 1 . 28pm Number ****303 Returning area 3 . 02 pm Number****904 so simple maths 1 . 5 hrs approx = 601 tickets at a min of $30 each 601 x $30 = :eek: In NSW, a lady lost her license within half an hour when speed camera's first came out over there . 3 times she was caught . |

| 730392 | 2008-12-19 11:06:00 | They like to pick on the "boy racer" type cars. I got stopped 5x in ONE weekend when I had my MX5... Once on Friday night at a checkpoint at the motorway offramp Once travelling home at 2AM with the top down, doing 95 in the middle lane with nobody else around ... Just a "precautionary check" my @$$! One the next day after picking up a friend from in town a little after dinner at the same motorway offramp checkpoint, then once again later that, same checkpoint By the 4th time through that checkpoint in the one weekend, I had the same police officer 3x, he was asking where I got the hard-top, he was interested in one for his :p Having been riding for ~18 months now, I can safely say there are so many drivers out there that are *completely* oblivious to whats going on! Its almost a joke! Not just your stereotypical "bad asian driver" or anything (Dont get me wrong, Im not knocking them), but things like a businessman driving to work with a pie in one hand and a clipboard in the other.. or a mum driving her kids to school while talking on her Cellphone ... Seriously if I had the money to fund more police officers to pull over bad drivers, I seriously would, out of my own pocket!! That said, from what I understand the youth suicide rate in NZ is higher per-annum than the road toll :( |

So, for example, if you crash at 75 km/h, the force is double what it would be if you crashed at 50 km/h. Yeah, the faster you go, the bigger the mess is about right. However, speed shouldn't be targeted as aggressively as it is at the moment. Bad driving habits are far worse in my opinion. Tailgating, dangerous passing, and taking the road code/traffic lights/stop signs/give way signs as a suggestion instead of the rules, and a 'me first' attitude seem to be much more dangerous. You don't remember your physics correctly, and you definitely have never learned maths beyond basic addition. gb2school plz. |

Make sure you can see and be seen. Keep a constant look out all around. Be aware of signs and regulations and why they are there. Be predictable. Recognise and anticipate danger and keep clear space from it. Always ensure that you can stop within the distance that you know is clear. Develop your skills. Give courtesy, co-operation and space to others. Don't obstruct them. Never take risks, drive unfit or compete with others. Safety is paramount and far more important than priority. Take personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of those nearby. |

| 730395 | 2008-12-19 19:58:00 | That's a nice road-code, if only there was a way to brainwash people to abide by it ... | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 730396 | 2008-12-19 22:05:00 | The only way to cut the road toll is take all cars off the road and replace them with dodgem cars. But i bet you if that ever happened, somebody would still find a way to kill someone on them lol | rob_on_guitar (4196) | ||
