2008-12-19 19:05:00 | With Actrix for 5 years. Their customer service is great - live kiwi guys on the phone Their broadband plans have daily data caps that are reset every day, so you can go crazy every day if you want to. They have increased my cap twice over the last few years.

2008-12-20 06:58:00 | I think I was one of the first here to move to Xnet broadband, and overall its been very good. Their call centre has always been speedy to respond, and they usually better their stated deadlines. They have had some of the better data plans, and their current 1/GB approach is the fairest and most sensible approach I can find. I've recently switch to Xnet Fusion, ditching Telecom and using Xnet's VFX service for VoIP calling. Apart from a minor hiccup where they (and/or Telecom) mucked up the switch over and placed my number in Palmerston (in the South Island) rather than Palmerston North, and the recent abominable situation with the email (which has now been resolved, and the performance is once again excellent), I have almost no complaints about Xnet. I suspect, however, that they may be going the way of Ihug. I was with Ihug for about 7 years, on dial-up, and remember the days of having multiple dial-in numbers. For a while, it was easy to connect every time, but then as they grew bigger, it became harder to maintain the quality of service, and busy tones became the norm. I eventually switched when I found out they had left me on an old, more restrictive plan, paying $10 more than their then current plans, for about 18 months. Though they may have had no obligation to notify me of the change, the fact they didn't smacked of arrogance, poor customer service, and further evidence they had become too big, and weren't the struggling underdog anymore. Xnet has long been the underdog, often overlooked in favour of the bigger operators, but they have fought through with excellent service. Now, though, I suspect they are becoming too successful, and their service is suffering at the expense of managing a burgeoning customer base. As a result, I would rank Ihug (past performance, and observations of their current operations - not as a customer) as 5/10. I would rank Xnet at 7/10, though 6 months ago I would have ranked them 9/10. Lizard

2008-12-20 07:23:00 | I have to hang my head in shame because I am with Xtra. In the past I have phoned their helpdesk to get a user password which had been forgotten. Other than that I have not needed help. Have tried Orcon and Wave prior. Orcon signed me up and then later changed the terms and conditions. So I went back to Xtra.

There is nothing wrong with telecom. There sevice and reliability on the whole is better than Xnets and slinghots. My parents have been with xtra/telecom for 10 years, and no major problems. Even the yahoo bubble problem didn't effect them. |

2008-12-24 06:52:00 | Xtras 20GB ADSL2+ deal is actually pretty good. Telecom's not that bad if your not after support all the time, it was better before they tried to make everybody sign up to yahoo stuff most don't want. | stormdragon (6013) | |
