I was called a river rat any visitor up the Mot river was called a loopy. Like the West Coast unless your great grandfather was born in the area you were never really accepted as a local. Nelson city might rate as rate as one of the most boring S!@# holes in the planet because of the amount of the old people who retired there and English immigrants. I am not trying to flame and things might have changed but if someone other than John Cleese can find a place more boring (except Saint Helena Island) than Nelson City I could be swayed. |

Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, Murchison. Been to them all and Nelson beats them hands down, incidently my wife is Nelson born and raised |

| 730232 | 2008-12-18 20:32:00 | Unless things have changed half of Christchurch seems to turn up at Kaitere and Tahuna at Xmas new year. I wonder if they still block up main street of Mot with their cars causing the locals grief. Should toll the one eyed numbuts at the county border. Every day mate, its a real show, not unusual to have 1st gear the entire length of high street between Christmas and new years, its painful! :p And theres always two asian idiots in camper vans who are both adament that their campers wont fit past each other on the mot bridge. |

Slightly OTT, do I remember someone (Gary maybe?) posting here that Transit NZ was going to do some substantial work on the road into Kaiteriteri? |

There is a rumour but the Ruby bay bypass is soo much more important, dunno who lives there to warrant it though |
