You only get your own room after basic, may have changed in the last 10 years, not sure.

But you don't spend much time in them.

I like the sleeping outside under the stars on exercise the best. Except in those dam Waiouru special rain storms that happen only when your about to set up

(Only one kind of pelt is marketable though.)

729284 2008-12-17 21:38:00 No real answers to my original request and I have had no success googling. Mostly I would love a photo of the bed layout for 17th Reg R.A. , the way it was when I was first there.
It was amazing - with wood down the sides of the bed and ply over the tops - blankets invisibly fastened to it and the "in use" bedding boxed on top - all belts etc on show - the highly polished and unused razor on display etc. Even wood sewn into the unused "display only" PE shorts underpants and vest. The big pack, small pack amd ammo pouches were similarly treated. The hut bucket highly polished and the sweeping broom razored every day.
Then we got a new CO - he inspected the barracks - called in all the sergeants and bombardiers and told them they had one hour to get rid of every piece of wood, cardboard and ply being used to stiffen our kit and restore things to a normal sensible army arrangement. We really enjoyed ourselves.
