840161 2009-12-16 20:05:00 ...if only I had a ton of $$, then sure, but I'm also going to be buying a 1.5TB External drive shortly due to my current 3TB worth being pretty much full ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
840162 2009-12-16 23:55:00 Get yourself a 295GTX and never look back

except for in about a year when she regrets spending ridiculous amounts on it when the 300 series has come out and pwns

EDIT: 3TB, What are you storing o_O

Try a couple months, the full-fledged 300 series isn't all that far away ;)

840165 2009-12-17 00:42:00 Have to say I dont like ATi cards at all, but to be fair, at this time they are the best bang for buck! SolMiester (139)

840168 2009-12-17 01:59:00 Brand loyalty is freaking ridiculous. Go for a good manufacturer and find the best you can for your budget.

The important thing is to outline your criteria. How much are you happy to spend (or to put it another way, how much are you UNhappy to spend)? What are you using it for?

Tomshardware are your best bet for comparisons. A flavour of 48xx would be my choice at the moment. There IS one in your price range.

840169 2009-12-17 03:12:00 Sound advice :) Thanks! Looking at a 4830 at the moment, real good price .... Chilling_Silence (9)
840170 2009-12-17 03:26:00 Splash out on the 4870 I say, more grunt than you could probaly use with the core 2 so itl keep you going for a while.

I'm still using an 8800GT and thats playing Dirt 2 on Ultra settings at 1680x1050 no worries. Borderlands was max settings as well, never plugged it into the tv to see how it went with 1920x1080 though.

Personally I'm waiting for new nvidia next year, bit of a wait but once the new stuffs out it should knock down the price of the current options and possibly get you more bang for buck if DX11 comes cheaper than the current ATI cards

Edit: Shouldnt you still be paying off the wedding?!
