| 730467 | 2009-01-06 00:55:00 | You want to hear funny :D Just came back from Town - on the way in going into the Mt Victoria Tunnel, theres a cop with a hand held Cam, almost hidden from view standing on the footpath Thanks to google Maps (www.imagef1.net.nz). On the way back an hour later - every one coming into the tunnel sees him, and flashes their lights to on coming traffic - amazing, the normal speed through the tunnel ( when I've been going through) ranges from 50 -55. the traffic flow was at 45K - From what I saw - most people were either tooting as they went past him - and even several waved as they went past - he looked kind of pissed off :lol: I suppose he had a bicycle to chase you with or was there 4 cop cars parked outside each end of the tunnel ready to gather the revenue..?? |

There was 1 cop + car outside the tunnel, at the end of the road leading up to the tunnel- they had one car pulled over - Once again thanks to google maps (www.imagef1.net.nz) where that black car is just around the corner.---but further out on the road in those white lines. Heres something interesting - all along there are broken yellow lines - so "legally" you are not allowed to park on yellow lines - or doesn't that rule apply if the cops are involved - so wonder what would happen if you obeyed the road rules and didn't stop ?? |

In the old days of the Auckland CC traffic department they were quite happy in the mornings to remove the No Parking signs on a busy downhill piece of road so that they could set up a speed trap and when the traffic died down put the sign back up again. Another favorite around here in parking a speed camera in a bus stop outside schools. The other thing is. As the cop with the gun is inside the tunnel and the tax collector outside what proof do they have that you were exceeding the speed limit? Their word against yours. On a quiet day they could makeup all sorts of false speeding tickts to get their quota.. | paulw (1826) | ||
