| 730437 | 2008-12-23 20:48:00 | Every chance it will, I had a $200 fine rescinded recently through a letter explaining that the vehicle was immobilised due to a failed theft attempt. So long as she made a valid case in the letter she may well be successful. Cheers Billy 8-{) If it is valid, the word "may" should not enter into it.! Or it would seem we are in the lap of luck. |

In due course, should you continue with that reasoning, you will become a dead dickhead. Please organise somebody to dig up this thread and post to let us know when that happens. Cheers Billy 8-{) :groan: Err, I said I don't follow speed limits for the sake of safety. Please explain how a nice round number (50 or 100) is somehow the safest speed to drive in every situation. I frequently drive under the speed limit, I also frequently drive over it. Edit: Perhaps "and break them at any chance I get" wasn't a particularly accurate way to portray this and I can understand your happiness in someone dying. Actually no I can't. |

| 730439 | 2009-01-03 02:52:00 | Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Excuses are excuses, I'm fairly sure the council isn't stupid enough to fall for **** like this. Tosser. It gives me great pleasure to report that the fine has been waived. |

But in your average 50kmh area - nup. :( Just yesterday I was following a cop thorugh Mot, 55kph the whole way, even touching 60 a few times. And he wasn't going anywhere - at the end of high street he turned around and went right back. It's BS, just quietly. I'm pretty sure you don't get demerit points for speed camera fines, and round my area (not sure about where you live) real cops don't care if you do 55 or 60. Your speedometer is probably out by around 2KPH because they aren't supposed to ticket you for doing less than 56 in a 50KPH area, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a completely unjustified ticket. |

| 730441 | 2009-01-03 07:26:00 | NZ's busiest speed cameras (www.nzherald.co.nz). Mr Kelly said the amount of money made from tickets was irrelevant. "In terms of money, I don't give a damn. Money is absolutely irrelevant to police. It always has been and always will be. "What you need to look at is what has happened to the road toll in the Waitemata over the past few years." He said the district's toll had gone from 35 death a few years ago to under 20 last year as police officers targeted speeders, and that was all that mattered. It was mentioned in the paper today that they are now targeting drivers that cross the white line. About time too. |

| 730443 | 2009-01-03 09:24:00 | If you exceed 30 mph in a 30 mph area you are a bastard, who is putting kids and old peoples lives at risk. The people who are putting those people at risk are the parents and caregivers who are not supervising them. |

| 730444 | 2009-01-03 09:50:00 | The police used to work for the people, now they work for the state as thinly disguised tax collectors. My wifes best friend lives on arguably Nzs worst blackspot and we never see a cop anywhere near it (Dome valley between Warkworth and Wellsford) but you always see them on nice straight stretches where the average driver can slip over the limit a few k's. Its all about revenue not lives. The day i see a cop driving backwards and forwards down the Dome is the day I start to soften my stance on the NZ thin blue tax gathering line. |

| 730445 | 2009-01-03 09:57:00 | A teenage family member yesterday got stung with a $200 fine for an expired WoF just five minutes before she left the house to go get one . The car was sitting outside her property on the street where it always is as the flat has no on-site parking . She cycles to work so hasn't been driving around in the vehicle . The warrant expired three weeks ago but she hasn't been able to afford to get it renewed, having had to fork out $600 to have a cancerous melanoma removed and $300 dental work recently . Unfortunately she was too proud to ask for a loan and now her Xmas has been thoroughly spoilt, not to mention her hard-earned summer holidays . Hopefully the explanation letter sent to the council will reach a kind-hearted soul who will provide some lenience otherwise it will be a very painful lesson learnt . Although a sorrow filled example Im sure, Im glad to hear it waivered, Im sure though others have used excuses the same or similar . My own fine I paid straight away but really I have no excuse except the car i used wasn't mine:o hence no warrant etc But my liscence issue I got told shouldn't have been a 200 fine . That was from a cop, so what gives there? |

| 730446 | 2009-01-03 09:59:00 | the dome....cops park in there a lot. almost every time i go through they have someone pulled over. however police are so under resourced that people crashing is not a high priority.......unless it gets splashed on tv :( of course police must LOOK like they are on top of things to keep the politicians happy. speeding tickets/camera is often simply a means to show the politicians that the job is being done when reality is they can't keep up. |
