730427 2008-12-22 10:10:00 I think our police are not as tough as in some other countrys, like the UK, USA, Australia to name a few. I was told a couple of years or so ago in Western Australia on a strait stretch of road the cops put up a couple of temp. speed limit signs and then sat in between them with there radar and started pinging drivers who didn't slow down. Now that is what I call revenue hunting.

Has any state in oz got honest cops like we mainly have here?

730429 2008-12-23 01:11:00 Does anyone remember those ads from a while back with the cars getting dropped by cranes? They stated that two cars hitting each other, each going at 25kph, was the same as a car being dropped into concrete at a speed of 50kph.

That's the day I gave up on following speed limits for the sake of safety. I now follow them when needed so I don't get tickets, and break them at any chance I get. (Ten years and no ticket)

Guess that's where the old Auckland City Council traffic cops went to.

I like trolling as much as the next person, but it only works if people can actually understand your point.

730433 2008-12-23 05:45:00 Hopefully the explanation letter sent to the council will reach a kind-hearted soul who will provide some lenience otherwise it will be a very painful lesson learnt. Every chance it will, I had a $200 fine rescinded recently through a letter explaining that the vehicle was immobilised due to a failed theft attempt. So long as she made a valid case in the letter she may well be successful.

730434 2008-12-23 05:50:00 I like trolling as much as the next person, but it only works if people can actually understand your point. The lack of any shred of logic in your reason for speeding means you are temporarily a live dickhead. In due course, should you continue with that reasoning, you will become a dead dickhead.

Please organise somebody to dig up this thread and post to let us know when that happens.

Cheers

730435 2008-12-23 05:54:00 Take my word for it, F1 drivers stop very quickly, so that can't be it!.

Bruce McLaren and Ayrton Senna (plus a few others as well) would disagree with you on that one Ciccy.

Cheers

On reflection, Paul Radisich has put the principle to the test on a couple of occasions recently, but Peter Brock proved the point at his first attempt.

The question is,does speed kill, what you are referring to B were accidents.
If perchnace you were staionary at a railway crossing and the train killed you, that is an accident, you can't say going slow kills you.

I was doing 160 mph the other day and lo I am still here to cheer us all up.
