| 729852 | 2008-12-16 21:35:00 | Come on Paul Brislen and now Paul Reynolds. According to the latest Commerce Commission Report for the September quarter www.comcom.govt.nz New Zealand is still in the lowest quartile of the OECD when it comes to mobile calling rates. See paragraph 21 "The main mobile plans benchmarked have not changed in price in $NZ over the last 18 months. As evident in Figure 6, for the most part these plans have continued to rank in the bottom quartile of the 30 OECD countries surveyed" Also see chart Figure 6 which shows the actual rankings of Telecom and Vodafone which range from 20 to 27 out of 30 ! This continued poor performance is becoming annoying to many of us, and an embarrasment to New Zealand's reputation. So come on Paul and Paul, why not drop your basic rates ! none of these deals and promotions just drop the basic rates from 89 cents down to something like 50 cents, you could start by doing it every 6 months or so and you would find your mobile call income would rise as more people made voice calls rather than text. |
