729311 2008-12-15 09:29:00 Anyone tried getting local driving directions using AA maps on http://maps.aa.co.nz/ ?

I just tried getting two different sets of directions - what a balls-up :annoyed:

The same request using Google Maps gave perfect logical directions :clap

What gives?

729312 2008-12-15 18:05:00 Never had a problem with AA Maps.

But AA are currently re-mapping New Zealand with some new technology, maybe similar to google I don't know.

729313 2008-12-15 18:43:00 Google are probably not alarmed by the competition.
If it is a work in progress, then the construction may be on dodgy foundations or it may be just a few potholes. I tried three searches - a partial pass and 2 fails.

I work for GeoSmart who created the AA Maps and am surprised at your experience, but you didn't actually say what you were searching for and what happened. We put a lot of effort into making sure that our maps and routing is as accurate as possible.

Can you please advise of the start and end points of your route? I will then investigate and report back here. Did you use the feedback button to report your issue?

AA Maps was built by Kiwis who care very much about accuracy for New Zealand routing and mapping and if there is a problem that is of sufficient concern to blog about, then we would welcome the opportunity to understand what the problem was and if it is at our end, to rectify it. We are very passionate about what we do.:thanks

Many thanks for your reply. It is more than I received after using the feedback button on the AA Map site :(

Obviously, I do not want to post my start/end points here in this forum.

Would you be happy for me to PM or email them to you?

729316 2008-12-16 22:47:00 Take a quick look at Shakespear Regional Park, on the Whangaporoa Peninsula. Not a helpful map. R2x1 (4628)
729317 2008-12-19 04:55:00 Sure, you can email info@geosmart.co.nz but I am on holiday now so it may be early in the new year before I can reply. I don't understand why you didn't get a reply from posting to feedback. LuigiCappel (14412)
