| 732145 | 2008-12-24 02:05:00 | Read the news item properly they just wanted their pay into their accounts earlier than the normal Thursday. Their commy union signed off on it. Our bus company the same why should we pay our drivers etc earlier it would be breaking an agreement with the unions. If they take one cent of fare money they are down the road and with a criminal conviction of theft to boot. We can get new drivers anytime we have a waiting list now and heaps waiting in Western Samoa and Fiji. |

It has (almost) always been that you must be paid at least one day before the weekend, or long weekend, which is why you are normally paid on Thursday. If the week ends on a Wednesday - as in this week and next - I would think that you should be paid on the Tuesday. I do not think that your contract will allow for any later day as I'm quite certain the payday is enshrined in law. Your firm is allowed to pay you before the penultimate weekday but not after. |

| 732148 | 2008-12-24 03:25:00 | Christmas is not a surprise. This could have been avoided and I wonder what sort of management would purposely do this to its staff. I would place bets to say this sort of management would abuse the 3 month redundancy clause National are implementing. | sam m (517) | ||

| 732150 | 2008-12-24 03:35:00 | Some people need to manage their money a bit better instead of living from pay to pay. Its called saving what you do is put some of money in a saving account instead of spending it all. Management only followed an agreement with the commy bus and tramway drivers unions. Well too bad commy labour is for the workers and National is for business its our turn to have a govt work for us. |

The bus drivers are moaning because they didn't get paid early - that's no grounds for a strike, or stealing from your employer. If they got paid late they would have good reason to complain, but this isn't the case here. |

| 732152 | 2008-12-24 04:07:00 | :groan: So much for the spirit of Christmas.. Legally the employer is in the right, but morally, they're Ebenezer Scrooges. Hell, even my bloodsucking Aussie employers gave us our wages a day early. |
