731809 2008-12-24 21:37:00 I once installed Gentoo Linux (with KDE) on an old PIII with 64MB RAM. Ran ok, not as fast as 98 though (mainly due to the fact I installed KDE and not a light weight desktop)

Though it did take me a week to get the OS on there (I was bored lol)

731810 2008-12-26 02:41:00 I was running Puppy 4.1.2 on a Dual 200Mhz Pentium Pro with 96MB RAM

Very nice, but problem is I couldn't install it since I couldn't get it booting from the HDD properly (SCSI)

It detects fine as a USB drive when running live and when installing but after that it's no good :(

I think the problem is that while the drive is SCSI, Puppy treats it as USB (I don't know why)

If I choose SCSI as the target drive type in the installer, it just tells me "Not implemented yet"

Joe, everyone who uses Linux has Linux problems, its just about having the aptitude (ha ha gedit?) or inclination to persevere and get it where you want it .

I just don't like the learning curve, since I've only got maybe another 15 years left on this lifespan and if I can get something else (notice I did not say WHAT) running, then I can live with that.

But I have a dream. I still like to 'xperiment a little, but not too much!

And "dwarf" is NOT pc! They are "little-people".

And some people run Linux (any distro) and try to make it look like Windows (any version)
