Yeah you can get Sigma lenses - or Tokina any of the other brands that make lenses with the same mounts as the camera you have - but as an economic decision over the long term, it isn't worth it. If your hobby grows and you get more lenses and end up selling some - then you will lose a lot of money on the non-brand lenses. For instance, Nikon lenses made thirty years ago are still worth good money. |

Still considering the D90, just need to convince the wife :D |

Interesting, In all the reading I done before purchase no one mentioned it was old gear bought from someone else, You have a link to this information? |

| 732569 | 2008-12-26 21:07:00 | Oh... Sony α (Greek letter alpha) is a digital SLR camera system introduced on June 5, 2006[1]. It utilizes and expands upon Konica Minolta camera technologies, including the Minolta AF SLR lens mount, whose assets were acquired by Sony after the end of Minolta's camera operations in early 2006. Sony also has an 11.08% ownership stake in Japanese lens manufacturer Tamron,[2] which is known to have partnered Konica Minolta and Sony in the design and manufacturer of many zoom lenses. |

| 732572 | 2008-12-26 21:49:00 | Indeed, we live and learn. I have always liked the Sony brand and was drawn to the Sony camera as friend has one. Camera salesman told me of the link to Minolta which didnt worry me. He also reasoned that Sony are being very price competitive to get into the market which goes someway to explain the price difference. |

| 732573 | 2008-12-26 22:18:00 | Indeed, we live and learn. True, but it makes no difference really, The camera is highly rated in every review I have read, and the thousands of posts at various forums I visited before purchase. As far as the Lens are concerned, I reckon I can get by with 2 or 3, and wouldn't spend more then a few hundred dollars on one, So I'm not concerned about losing money or lack of options.Hell, I lose near $300 a week on food.... Quite satisfied I bought exactly the right camera, for me. |
