2008-12-28 21:32:00 | If you have a feeling that a seller has faked an account to up the bidding, is there anything you can do? I was bidding on a recording desk, when somebody who has never made a trade (sell or buy) and not address verified who joins up the same day as I was just about to win, who comes from the same place as the seller and I got into a bidding fight . But then they went to far so i stopped . I have a gut feeling the seller made a fake account to up the price as it was going to be an awesome deal . I can't prove it, but I just got to hunch . Ill see if it pops up for sale again . Or am I just thinking wrong?

2008-12-28 21:38:00 | Wouldn't surprise me Rob - it's one of the oldest tricks in the book with auctions; it usually only works however, when you have a very desirable item that many people want; not sure that a recording desk would fit that category. Not sure that Trade Me would be that interested in helping you work out what happened either - they don't like to get their hands dirty from what I've seen

2008-12-28 21:49:00 | I've bid on a few auctions over the years where I've suspected people have been doing that, or got their friends to do it. Like you say though, Trademe don't really give a damn | Agent_24 (57) | |
2008-12-28 21:56:00 | But then they went to far so i stopped . So in that case (if no 1 else bidded) the seller missed out . They now have to relist/reoffer it . Their loss, not yours .

Yea, thats why Ill wait to see if it's gets relisted, it is a unique item to a certain extent..... ....but then again it could have been a genuine buyer, i just have doubt. |
