2009-01-02 22:06:00 | the plane's autopilot system shut itself off Hope the flight crew / pilot and co pilot weren't up having a walk around at the time. | wainuitech (129) | |
2009-01-02 22:37:00 | Give me Boeing anytime. Ken I understand the same thing happened to a Boeing 777 some time ago in roughly the same place. However, it appears Airbus are more predisposed to this sort of thing happening given their greater 'reliance' on the electronics running the show...

2009-01-02 23:56:00 | Not a pleasant experience. I was on a quantas flight from Singapore when all of a sudden the cabin filled with smoke. The crew were just great but it was very scary apparently one the A/C system fans bearings had seized | beama (111) | |
2009-01-03 03:14:00 | I think Airbus is too reliant on computers, there should be a better mechanical redundancy backup. I would hate to die just because my airplane got a BSOD and the pilot couldnt overide the thing. They need a big red button with a yellow and black striped guard over it that you push to override everything electrical and electronic. Any hint of a control problem push the BRB (big red button) then fly the plane on manual. Just like you first did when you learnt to fly the right wing drops pick it up with a little left aileron, nose drops pull back on stick. lose altitude push throttle forward etc etc. Back to basics is whats called for.

2009-01-03 20:24:00 | It's an Airbus, perfectly ok for shifting air around. It's when you put people in or start the engines that things may go bad. | R2x1 (4628) | |
