842413 2009-12-22 19:43:00 If my one of my tech friends has his own company with a MS gold partner title, and he said he could get the company i work for MS Server 2003 for $350 a license, how legit would that be? I know he does some of the private schools in auckland, but i would assume the discount would only be for schools and we would have to pay retail (from $1200 a license) correct? aidanmaz (7180)

842416 2009-12-22 20:14:00 That doesn't quite sound right - I'm not a gold partner, but I do know you can get discounts - but to on sell to someone else --:illogical I wouldn't be so sure. ( could be completely wrong) Check out the Licensing for gold partners (partner.microsoft.com) - I do know you can get huge discounts for charity organizations, I have several for some of my customers who qualify.

Edited: Add to above, I have the ability to get licenses for places like schools, or educational programs who can also get huge discounts, but you still have to apply to MS to get the licenses, you cant just handing them out willy nilly. I would assume a gold partner would still have to do the same.

842417 2009-12-22 20:50:00 yeah i am thinking he is doing something he shouldnt, he is a nice guy, but in a corpaorate environment he needs to keep it by the rules. aidanmaz (7180)
